In order to figure out how to live comfortably and happy in your own skin, you really need to figure out who you are, what you want in life and what are you willing to sacrifice for that life. This world is full of opportunity for those who want it, but one of the biggest problems I have observed are the people who only continue to ‘search’ for the perfect life. What does that life look like? What do you have to do to get that life? I hate to break it to those people, but perfection does not exist. However, you can strive to live perfectly happy.
When you embark on a journey of self-discovery, you must look in the mirror and start by getting to know yourself really well. You must be honest and stop living in a false sense of security believing your own words.
I believe those of you who know me understand that my crazy, busy schedule is MY choice. I have always known that I like to be busy. Living in Southern California, there are many people who would say that the amount of leisure time you have is a sign of social status – you have "made it" and therefore you get to spend hours on the golf course and at long lunches. This notion is completely opposite of what I know and want because I KNOW MYSELF.
I don’t’ think anyone should tell you how to live your life, but a "reality check" every so often is a good thing. So here is one secret to help you get closer to achieving a full life. Surround yourself with a circle of friends, family and co-workers who you trust to tell you the truth. I believe you should have a group of mentors in your life who play different roles. Surround yourself with pioneers who will push you, drivers to hold you accountable, protectors to save you when you fall and connectors to introduce you to the right people. Now look at your own life. Do you have people like this in your life?
I believe that if you really know yourself, your values, goals and keep those solid relationships, then you will be on the road to living a perfectly happy life.
