No one can believe we are in the 3rd week of January 2014. This is the beginning of the year where everyone starts off with a clean slate. Every company out there brushes off their vision, mission and values and new posters are put on the wall. Why don't you really try and start this year off making a difference. Instead of 'lip service' let's try to really make a difference in everyone's lives around you. I will give you some tips:
1. Family - don't ignore the 'elephant in the room' any longer. Try and really help that family member make their life better. Don't allow them to settle, stop them from causing constant chaos and more importantly open up their eyes so they can see the true value in their life. You only have one family - make it count!
2. Friends - Unfortunately I don't get to spend too much time with my friends because of my intense travel schedule but that doesn't stop me from being present - I make a point to call, send texts, write emails and always follow up on birthdays and holidays. Start off this year with a plan to stay connected. If you don't ink it you won't do it.
3. Work - If you love your job and your boss then keep it going. If not, let's figure out a way to either fix it or move on. Stop wasting precious time in a position that you are not excelling and find one that will let you soar. On the other hand, are you being honest with yourself? Are you a team player, a proactive part of the solution or the trouble causer that is stirring things up daily? If you are the latter, you need to wake up and remember that this world doesn't revolve around you and you will always be miserable if you are a negative force on a team.
So as my favorite song goes "don't tell me not to live just sit and putter, life's candy and the suns a ball of butter, don't bring around a cloud to RAIN ON MY PARADE!"
Happy New Year, Cindy
